About Us

Our names are Justin and Suzanne Harbour and we live in Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. We share our home with our dogs and they are a big part of our lives.  We enjoy showing and training our 'four legged kids' but perhaps most importantly, we simply enjoy their company!  We are dedicated to the development and promotion of Belgian Shepherds in Australia, and we hope to positively influence the breed by importing, exporting and breeding only from the best bloodlines available in Europe and Australia.

We have always had dogs, Justin grew up in a 'doggie' family, breeding and showing Samoyeds for many years in Victoria and Queensland.  Suzanne has been involved in showing horses since the age of seven (now much older !), and after a riding accident many years ago, decided to turn her attention to the K9 Showring. Justin kept himself occupied showing our Jack Russell Terrier until Suzanne decided to get a 'real' dog to show. ;-)

After much research and conversations with breeders and judges, we decided on a 'working dog' - and fell in love with 'the Belgian Shepherd'. Through this research we were lucky enough to meet Lynda Trotter from Belgenbeau Belgian Shepherds in Queensland, and we purchased our first Belgian Shepherd show dog several years ago.  And so began our love affair with this delightful charming and sometimes misunderstood breed.

As we became more and more involved with Belgians, we became convinced they were (and still are) the 'Best Kept Secret of Group 5' and as such, made a commitment to promote this loving loyal breed. In 2006 we established our kennel prefix 'Belgnté' ~ which basically stands for Belgians in the NT. In 2007, recognising that our goals and plans for our dogs was very similar to what our good friend Lynda Trotter wanted to achieve we established a 'breeding partnership' under our new joint kennel prefix

Belquenté

It is our hope that by working together, Belquenté will become synonymous with breeding and producing only the highest quality Belgian Shepherds in Australia and Overseas.  We have already had much success with our 'Avion' Litter and our 'ON' Litter and we have many exciting plans for 2008 and 2009.

Our best is yet to come ! ! !

Oh, in case anyone was wondering : Belquenté stands for BELgian Shepherds in QUEensland and the NT.    ^..^

We are registered members of the North Australian Canine Association. Suzanne is the Secretary for the Alice Springs Kennel Club and Justin is on the Alice Springs Kennel Club Committee.

A special thank-you to our good friend and builder of our K9 Float, Mr Darcy Ellis. Custom built to originally fit Darcy's many Saint Bernard's, it is also equipped with air-conditioning, pop top camper with queen ensemble bed, water tank, self powered by 2 x 12V dry cell batteries and plenty of storage, the trailer is perfect for moving our dogs (and us) around the country in comfort.
